Asset Tracking versus Non-Asset Tracking Form Templates

InspectAll supports two different form types.  Asset Tracking and Non-Asset tracking.

Asset tracking form templates will tie all data and inspections back to a specific piece of equipment or item.  Assets can be anything from cranes and ladders to projects and employees.

If you are doing inspections on small items that you don't need to keep a history on, then you will likely want to set up the form as non-asset tracking.  Some examples would be observational type audits, or maybe items like slings or hooks that are more disposable.

Form templates and classes can be set up to be either asset tracking or non-asset tracking.

If your form is ASSET TRACKING, then when you click to Add Forms to a folder, you will want to select the "Pick some assets" option and NOT the "Pick Forms" option.  By selecting "Pick some assets", you are first selecting which assets you will be inspecting, and then InspectAll will show you the available form templates for that type of asset (so you can never make a mistake and do a forklift inspection form on a crane, for example).

When you select "Pick Forms" when adding forms, you will only be shown NON-Asset tracking forms (things like safety observations, accident reporting, etc).  You want a form to be non-asset tracking only when you don't want the data collected to tie back to a specific asset.

In Form Builder (on the web), you can manage whether a form is asset tracking or not by editing the form template.

You can see at a glance whether a form template is set up as asset tracking or not.  Just look for the icon.
