Move Assets to another Account

Overview

If you create a Folder or an Asset under the wrong account and need to move it to a different Account, you can use the Folder Move feature on the InspectAll website to change the Account for the asset.  Note:  This feature is available for Administrator Users only.

Moving a folder from one Account to another moves the forms and assets within the folder as well but will not move the HISTORY for the asset from other folders.

  • NOTE!! - Moving a Folder performs the following actions:
    • Folder - Moves this folder to the new Account.
    • Locations - Any Locations found in the Folder/Forms/Assets in this Folder will be compared by name to the locations in the destination Account. If they don't exist, then the location is cloned over to the new Account and the objects are assigned to that newly cloned location.
    • Forms - Forms remain in the folder and are simply moved with the Folder.
    • Assets - If your folder contains Asset Tracking forms, then Assets are MOVED to the new Account IF they don't have forms in different folders than the one you are moving. If previous forms have been done on this asset in other folders, then the asset is CLONED to the new Account and the forms in this folder that are for that asset are assigned to the cloned one that now exists in the new Account. Forms in other folders remain with the original account, and the asset file with the history will also remain with the original account, essentially duplicating the asset in two different accounts.

Asset Move

The operation for the asset move works the same as the folder move.  To move assets, you must move a Folder with those Assets in it.  If you are trying to just move assets, or CLONE them to another account, just create a new folder, and add any asset tracking form for each asset you want moved to the folder.  Then move the folder (using the steps above). Or, if you have a folder already created with asset tracking forms in it, you can move that folder which will also moved those forms and assets with it to the new Account.

How to Use It

- First, create a folder for the original account (if you don't already have it created).

- Then add an asset tracking form for each asset you want to move.

- Go into the folder on the InspectAll website.

- Then click on the "Move" button at the top right

- In the pop up box, start typing in the Name of the Account to which you want to move the Folder.  As you type, any Accounts with that text will populate.

- Once you've entered the Account name, click on "Move Folder".
